The Valve Index is way overpriced imo, The G2 is better than the Index and at a great price but the controllers are another downgrade compared to the Rift CV1, again imo. Why a preference to Oculus (or Meta lol), the controllers, for me, they are by far the best controllers on the market.

And the Quest 2 with PC link compresses the image being sent to the headset, which would be another performance impact IMO but I'm not sure if this is done by the GPU or CPU (I have a lot of free performance available on CPU). The Rift S is a downgrade in terms of tracking accuracy (inside out tracking) and the refresh rate (80hz instead of 90hz) for the sake of not requiring 3 USB ports for the desk sensors. On the headset front, I still have the CV1 for two reasons, considering the performance hit of VR on DCS on my current headset, I don't see things getting better for me with a newer headset that has a higher resolution considering the FPS impact of having more pixels.Īnd secondly, Oculus (or Meta now apparently) hasn't released a better headset to the CV1. This happens in single player as well but is much much worst on multiplayer.

And at least officially, the software situation is straightforward: The HTC Vive and Vive Pro works with Valve’s SteamVR platform, Oculus Rift uses the Oculus Home storefront, and Windows Mixed Reality will get content from Windows 10’s Windows Store. So how are you guys doing performance wise in DCS VR if you have moved on to a newer headset? I'm getting a lot of ghosting and stuttering and my GPU is used at 100% all the time so I have no overhead to apply on a higher resolution headset. Windows Mixed Reality: SoftwareĪll of these VR speeds, feeds, and specs are academic without software, of course.

HTC Vive still works on Windows 7 or higher, while Oculus Rift runs on Windows 8.1 or higher.

Despite those modest graphics card requirements, you’ll probably want at least at GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 for the best results, as with the Vive.Īs for software requirements, Windows Mixed Reality is tied exclusively to Windows 10, and you’ll need to have the Fall Creators Update installed. Both versions require 8GB of RAM and a USB 3.0 port (either Type-A or Type-C).
